Hi, I’m Christi and I am so thrilled that you are visiting my blog! I created Nugget & Goose to help moms like me find easy ways to enrich their children’s education while still having fun. Pinterest is chock-full of ideas for crazy elaborate activities but all too often its easier to pin this stuff than actually do it. My goal is to find and test these activities and then bring the best and easiest straight to you!
I have been creating Montessori-inspired tot school units for my sons for almost 3 years and over that time I have learned so much! There have been some activities that were so much more fun than I ever expected – and there have also been plenty of Pinterest Fails. I hope that I can save you from some of that frustration so you get to spend more time having fun with your kids and less time worrying about how to get that Tempera paint out of their hair.

Who am I?
I am Mommy to my 2 incredible little boys. My oldest ‘Silly Goose’ is almost 4 and his brother, my ‘little Nugget’ is 1 1/2. They are my world and even though they keep me so very busy I love every second I am with them.
Before I became a mom I had a marketing degree and worked in the insurance field (…snore…). I never had any interest in becoming a teacher, and yet when Goose was born I suddenly found myself eager to help him learn everything possible about the world around him. It was hard to know where to begin but over the years I have learned so much about education and the way children’s minds develop.
“I suddenly found myself eager to help him learn everything possible about the world around him.”
Maria Montessori observed that children go through ‘Sensitive Periods’ when they are super receptive to learning. During these times their little brains hunger for knowledge like I hunger for Oreos and it is so important to take time away from the TV or Ipad to feed that hunger.
Unfortunately it often isn’t that easy. I feel like moms today are under more pressure than ever before. Not only do we still have the antiquated expectation that we should keep a perfectly spotless house, cook the meals and care for our children. Now there is pressure for every meal to be organic, every house to look like a magazine, and every minute with our children should be enriching and fulfilling. Not to mention the expectation that we should all work out 7 days a week and look like super models! I don’t know where this pressure comes from but all too often it seems like we are doing it to ourselves and to each other.
“Moms today are under more pressure than ever before … Let’s stop judging each other and start helping each other.”
Why can’t we all just accept that being a mom is hard, and there are some days where we just aren’t going to make it out of our yoga pants? I think it’s time to stop the pressure and start helping each other out.
That’s why I created Nugget & Goose – because I’m doing something I love for my boys and I want to make it easy for you to have these same experiences without the stress and headaches. I’m not a perfect mom – far from it. But I believe that if we work together we can define our own versions of perfect, and find perfect happiness.
I would love to hear all about your own experiences with Tot School, your joys (and frustrations!) with being a modern mom, or just a quick hello!
